Busy busy...and to do list

Alright, I reaaaally didn't do too well with my "to do" list last time, but then I was still in a bit of a daze, which I've slooowly been coming out of. (Yeah, I think I've said that a few times, but I am slowly getting back to normal, for me).

For a quick update before the meaty stuff, apparently my father, even after leaving like within an hour or two of the news, still missed the funeral. He arrived around an hour and a half after the start of the funeral, so apparently only managed to make it to the reception thing after the funeral/burial. Yeah, I'd so have blown it off, but that's me. (And the fact that, like, none of them made it to my mother's funeral or even seemed to want to try to make plans to so... yeah.)

But anyhow, with him out of my hair for anywhere between like 3 or 4 days to a week or so, I'm trying to get some stuff done. Didn't get near as much done today as I'd have liked, but then I think I'm still feeling the afteraffects of 2-days upset stomach followed by 2 days of headache, plus the lack of appetite and lack of food accompanying them.

I did at least make it to the market (please, try not to faint from shock at the fact that I STEPPED OUT of the house, and DROVE somewhere even). Got a lotta stuff (200 buck trip, youch), got it all put away, threw out some of the old stuff that needed replaced. Got some dishes washed, Got a liiittle bit of yard dug up for a really belated herb garden. Seems like there was more too, but I can't even remember it at the moment.

So although it didn't work last time, gonna try a to-do list for tomorrow (and possibly tonight still), and try to meet those goals. Go, me!

To Do:

Pay bills
Clean cat box and bird cage (funny how often that crops up, no?)
Encroach further upon the Dishes Terrorist Front. It's for the sake of Homeland Security, people!
Finish digging herb bed
Clear out more of the mess from the pond (weather permitting)
Clean out part of bedroom
Clean out part of laundry room
Gather trash, including old food that should be destroyed ere it gain sentience. (Unless it wants to do my taxes.)
Write a little bit in my poor neglected novel/try to bitchslap my Muse into working again. Slacker.

Possibly to do:

Clear out part/all of flower garden, which has been devoured by voracious mint. (Oh gods, the mint! Someone gimme a machete...)
Write at least 1000 words in my novel
Clean off kitchen table. (Speaking of a machete...)
Clean out part of the computer room)

That should do it, since I'm still feeling a bit worn and don't want to overwhelm myself to the point where I give up and don't get any of it done. :p

Wish me luck! Updates as I slowly get stuff done, I hope...

Oh, mint. I'm so glad I've been sticking to containers for herbs. The mint all came back with a vengeance and ended up being rootbound in last year's container, so I transplanted it. What a nightmare!

Heh, when I first got my spearmint years back, the one I got it from suggested planting it inside a coffee can. Yeah, that worked real well. Between the roots being strong enough to eventually push through it, and the fact that it sends off runners over the ground... yeah, it didn't stay contained very long.

I finally ended up devoting the section between our garage steps and our steps leading up into our parking spaces to a mint garden, and as it is, the spearmint has choked out the lemon balm (which wisely made a break for it *under* the garage stairs and into my flower garden, where I may allow it to take up residence along the side). It has devoured the catnip, until I beat it back and replanted some. And it's tried its best to smother the peppermint, although I keep helping the latter to rally.

It's also currently completely flooding out my flower garden, which is why I need to beat it all back, dig it up, and replant at some point. Just getting such a late stuff with all the crap that's been happening that I don't know how much of a flower garden I'll end up with this year, but we'll see.
