Overdue Entry

Yeah, it's been a few days since I made my last entry. Oops. Mea culpa.

Let's see... what have I been doing that I can update about?

Been doing more yardwork. I know I know, I should be taking somewhat of a break. I have been toning it down, really. But I do want to try to get some more stuff done, now that I'm started. I got some massive weeds cleared out of my small flower garden (which isn't much of a flower garden - I didn't get too much planted there this year, and half of what was planted got drowned out by the weeds that I let grow while I was busy with a project. Oops.)

I've also finished shifting the dirt out of the backyard from digging the pond. I've also added some curved brick circles around the mailbox and a birdhouse that we have in the backyard, for accents - I haven't mortared the bricks together yet though. I've also been refreshing the white marble chips around the bases of a couple bushes we have out front, something that needed to be done. I'm most of the way done with that - I ran out of the stones for it (well, you know what I mean) once I got a little over halfway through.

Oh yeah, and I planted a few things as well. Like adding a few new plants to the pond, and putting in two heather plants (one purple, one white) near the pond. Oh, and a Columbine to the other side. And today I added a "Laura" phlox (which I just *had* to get) which has fragrant purple flowers a bit below the heather.

Now if it would just stop raining for long enough for the grass to dry out slightly, I could get the grass cut again, which it desperately needs. And maybe my pond would clear up a bit again.

Let's see - I mentioned some of the stuff that I did today, but I also went shopping for about three hours this morning/afternoon, and got lotsa swag. Probably more than I should have, but oh well. I figure I'll get the stuff while I have the chance to get out and about. What did I buy? Well, more chocolate (of course), a small bookshelf (not enough to hold the great overflow that I have by now, but at least it should help), a card table (for my parents), a couple other little things for the house, the two Morrowind expansions (more on that later), a game System Selector to plug all of my consoles into for ease of organization, the aforementioned phlox, some white corn on the cob from a place that my mother likes, some Quikrete mortar mix for the aforementioned bricks, some regular Quikrete to do some patching of the sidewalks, three more (heavy! *whimper*) bags of white marble chips to finish the aforementioned (I'm using that word a lot...) job at the front of the house around the bushes, some fertilizer pellets for the pond plants (to make sure they get all the right nutrients), and of course some fish. Naturally. I got another pair of guppies that I thought were pretty, two more shibunkin (one of these days I'll spell that right) for the pond, and a blue neon black velvet damselfish (or whatever the full name is, yeesh) for the saltwater tank. Although that one doesn't seem to be doing too well - it's getting bullied by the other fish. :~( I also picked up some ferny-looking plant for the guppy tank for baby guppies to hide in whenever the females decide to finally give birth, and some small stalks of bamboo to put into the pond. Yay! And of course I picked up a few other small odds and ends as well.

Shop til you drop, indeed!

Hrm, I was going to put in an entry about the video games I've been playing, but this entry's already getting long, so I figure that can give me something to write about tomorrow, or sometime soon.

Yeah, especially if you have to haul all that back from the car...

For things like that (yardwork, housework...) I'm like you---once I get a momentum going I try to carry it on until it's finished. Otherwise, at least for me, it's hard to pick it up and bring it up to that level of activity again.

I know just what you mean
I think it's the difference between "Eh - I should do that", then once it's started, that old stubborn streak comes in. No - I don't want a break, I want to finish this. No, I'm not going to bed yet - I haven't completed this program. Well, yes, I guess I can have one more bite of potato salad....BOOM!

Right now I've been working on finishing Lost Kingdoms (well, not *right now*, I'm at work right now). Because it's a great game? No - but because I couldn't beat the final boss, so I'm going back over the game to make sure I've got all the goodies. I just can't take the thought of this piece of silicon beating me.

Hrm...
Come to think of it, I'm not sure if I ever completely defeated Lost Kingdoms or not. I do know that I want to get and try Lost Kingdoms II, but a) I have enough other stuff to play at the moment, and b) I'd kinda like to wait for it to go down in price a bit (or get a used copy) first.
