Hrmphh....

There is not nearly enough Skyrim discussion going on!

Although I guess I can understand it, since...

a) Playing, not posting!

b) It's hard to figure out what might or might not be spoilage for everyone else. I mean, I'm up to level 12, and I've still barely touched the main storyline. And it's not like everyone would even be doing the same sidequests either...

So anyhow. What's everyone else doing? I'm a female Bosmer, swordwielder and magic-user (mostly Destruction, Conjuration and Restoration), with a lot of Enchanting/Alchemy and a wee bit of Smithing. And I've been doing a lot of Lockpicking too, although I haven't been doing much other thiefly stuff.

So far I'm a member of the Companions and the Bard's College, not too far along in either, and still want to join the Stormcloaks (started that quest) and the College of Magic (haven't been there yet). Just got my own place. Have a follower.

Grrr, I dunno what else I want to say, that might not be, like, spoilycakes! I still have to go talk to the Greybeards, and will probably do that next... that is vague enough that it shouldn't be spoily. (Then probably the College of Magic... then maybe I'll see about that Stormcloaks quest if I'm feeling high enough level yet...)

Yeah, and there's a perk later on that lets you "sample" more than one of the effects of the reagents that way, but you need to already have decently high alchemy, which seems... less than ideal. But oh well.

I suspect they wouldn't force you to join a side, and yeah, I went to the town. It's... yeah. I got the impression it's more that the townspeople are racist toward Dunmer, and the Stormcloaks just can't be bothered to correct them, but still! Not Good!

My assassin was just the Dark Brotherhood. Wonder if I haven't stepped on High Elven toes in some way yet, or if they just haven't got around to/located me.

I look forward to it, cause I have like a helmet and bracers or something that are elven armor, and they rock! (I'm doing the light armor route, to split the difference between "warrior" and "mage"...)

I don't wanna give up my boots though, they have something like an extra 30 to carrying capacity enchanted on them, and I'm hesitant to destroy the enchantment and try to cast it elsewhere, cause it'll suck more. :/

On the piece of armor itself, it should say in the upper left corner. (I guess there are just Heavy Armor and Light Armor this time around, though I think I remember Medium from Morrowind. And Jewelry doesn't count.)

That means you're wearing some of each, yeah.

#1: The heavier your clothes are, the harder it is to Sneak

#2: Mix and match means you level both skills instead of one skill twice as much, and means you need perks from two trees *and* any Armor perks you have don't apply to all your armor.
Of course, if you're like me then you have no armor perks and your main plan is "do not get hit" so this might not apply.

#3: Wearing heavy armor slows you down. People in light armor run faster, people in no armor run fastest.

On the other hand, as you point out, heavy armor = more AC = less incoming damage.

I don't sneak PAST people. I sneak UP ON people, steal their crap, and gut them.

Seriously, how can you turn down triple damage with a bow, 6x damage with a melee weapon, or 15x damage with a dagger? BACKSTAB, YO.

(Also: There were many quests in Oblivion that included "and you can't kill anyone while doing it!" so I'm assuming I'll find some of those in Skyrim, too. Along with other quests where you didn't want to kill the people. And then there's the whole "robbing the castle" part, where you CAN kill all the guards but that's a pain in the ass so why not just let them go past?)
