Parasha: Lucifer, July 18th reading

And here we start the actual Lucifer series itself. Woo!

"I would do nothing to compromise Lucifer." Riiiight. Anyone who believes that, raise your hand?

Mazikeen's way of speech is... understandable, but freaking annoying I'll admit, when you're trying to immerse yourself in the story.

A pretty good introduction to the Basanos, and between the story title, Lucifer's last words, and the images, it's pretty easy to see where this is going, at least in part!

"Bent" huh? I guess that's a different way of saying "not straight," and a more polite one at least! And anyone think the bit about a tit fixation is a bit of lampshade-hanging, given our introductory image of Jill?

"queasily fascinating..." that's one thing I like about Carey, he's good at putting even the simplest words together in pretty evocative ways. Although some of his foreshadowing isn't exactly the most subtle. (Like, say, with Karl and his little crew.)

As a small aside, I can't read this introductory chapter, without That Song starting to go through my head. "Willkommen, beinvenue, welcome...."

*cough* sorry.

Anyhow... quite an ending, eh? Should be... interesting. Hehhehheh.

The rest of the schedule.

The first three issues were actually from "Sandman Presents: Lucifer"... Sandman Presents being a sort of "series" of mini-series and specials that were tied in with the Sandman mythos/world.

I guess the blank letter of passage means that it's more open and powerful? Or something?

Or maybe God just doesn't like to give autographs.

And yeah, I have the same general feeling about the artwork. I wasn't blown away by the first three issues, but I'm even less fond of this, really.

Oh, man. If Lucifer has to now go and retrieve the Tarot Cards that were freed... I'm going to laugh and laugh.

Mazikeen's way of speech is... understandable, but freaking annoying I'll admit, when you're trying to immerse yourself in the story.

It was only in this chapter that I realized I could read what she was saying, and that there was heavy consistency there. Before that, I assumed we weren't meant to.

Carey sure isn't afraid to kill off characters. I really had thought we'd be seeing more of Meteos.

Oh geez, I never even thought of it in a Card Captor Sakura way. That's just... horribly horribly wrong. And now if Mazikeen decides to start dressing Lucifer up in new frilly outfits every time he goes out to find one...

*mental image*

*shakes self*

Yeah, moving on.
