My only really spoily comment here is that it makes me wonder just how much Gaiman had plotted out in advance, when you see little tiny things like the phone call to Rose, who then turns up later on as a very slightly more important character. Is he very good at plotting intricately, or just great at looking back and making good use of what has come before?

I'm firmly convinced that was foreshadowing, just like when one of the Three told him they weren't there to help him during their first meeting.
