So yeah. The artwork actually looks a bit better in half-finished form!
Other than some artwork, we get to see the final "book" of the work in its scripted form. And if there are last-minute changes being made even at this point, it's no wonder the work as a whole lacks some coherency and focus, yeesh.
The last book isn't frankly any more sensible or, well, light in scripted form than it is in the final product. (Vampire Superman is still creepy and nonsensical, for instance.) There were a couple things that would have been slightly better - the mutants not murdering the cops before being taken in by the Batman for instance, or the cops not shooting recklessly at Robin at the amusement park, but that's about it.
(And... he gets hit by lightning, it doesn't tickle? Seriously? I'll assume that's written ironically.)
I am glad though that it ended with Bruce more in a general leadership/teaching role rather than sitting on a freaking creepy-assed throne, because creepy ending is creepy!
