Parasha: New Book Suggestions

Alright, here's a nice shiny new post for any new suggestions for books.

Books for this reading thang should be on the shorter side, or at least not overly long, with short stories and graphic novels and the like so far proving best for this type of thing. Anyhow, something at least that can be broken up readily into digestible segments to read throughout the course of the month.

Pretty much any genre in general can be considered, I suppose! Although I know at least one person is leaning against murder mysteries specifically, and the general feeling seems to be "oh gods no more epic fantasy, please" (although that pretty much fails in general under the "length" thing, anyhow.

So.. have at it! What might we want to consider reading, and why?

Re: Graphic Novels
* Fun Home, by Alison Bechdel.

I haven't read anything by her since the days when I was roommates with vito_excalibur, but I remember it being good, funny stuff.

* Understanding Comics, by Scott McCloud. Do we do non-fiction? If we're going to be reading more GNs, it can't hurt to go over the definitive work on comics criticism, can it?

That would be really interesting. I've often eyed it and thought about getting it, but I wasn't sure how much it would seem like homework instead of something fun.
