Parasha: Frankenstein March 15th reading

Almost forgot to post today, because zzz, boring! More story!

And not much really happens this time that's new... I mean, the creature is starting to learn a few words here and there, and playing the part of good-fairy (which is both sweet and bizarre... if nothing else, at least he started out with good intentions), but not much actually *happens*.

Really though, this seems to be setting us up for a fall, because you KNOW this is just not going to go well, when he makes his Big Reveal.

I think I'm just too impatient for stories-within-stories, in general! You're right that the Creature is more sympathetic than Victor, and there's interesting bits going on, but the back of my mind is clamoring the whole time "okay, so what happens next in the 'real' story?"

I think the Creature as Good Fairy is pretty cool, myself. That's partly because this is completely new to me. No Igor, not much lightning = no relation to what little I knew. And while I remember a blind old man from the Mel Brooks movie, I just didn't expect him to learn language & custom from a small, poor family.

As you say, though, this won't end well.
