To go back over the choices, Dickens wasn't popular despite being seasonal (too many bad memories of him from school perhaps?), Hogfather would be a bit much IF we decide to do Night Watch for May, and Sherlock Holmes seeeemed to be the most liked idea, but I want to be sure. :p If you have any other suggestions though, now's the time!

I don't know who else objected to the Dickens, but mine were based on the fact that it is the most overtold story in the history of ever. There's been a dozens screen adaptations, and almost every TV sitcom that went longer than 3 seasons did a version of it.

Also, the Muppets version of it was definitive.

Or we could read the collection that has the Blue Carbuncle story in it, which is Christmassy!

I voted for Holmes because I liked it more than the other options, but I'm not committed to it. I'm mainly just rabidly anti-Dickens.
