Also: graphics cards

I'm suspecting that my graphics card may be on its last legs, due to the problems mentioned before, and then earlier today when I got an error message that the graphics accelerator had stopped responding and had to be reset by the driver, which, y'know, doesn't sound good.

So my question is: what's the best type of graphics cards out there? What would y'all suggest? I've never actually bought one separately from a new computer before, so... I'm curious what I should go for.

My current card is an ATI Radeon 9800 series. From what it says in the diagnostics, it's an AGP card? (Damnit, there are way too many flavors of different cards, harddrives, RAM thingies, etc etc... no wonder computer hardware is so damn confusing).

So anyhow, I apparently need it to be an AGP card? And what I'm looking for is something that would be equal to or better than my current card, but is as cheap as possible, so if anyone has recommendations...?

(I may go with a slight downgrade if it's notably cheaper, because ouch. Damn but graphics cards can get expensive!)
