Book Meme

I forgot to do the Monday Fun this week, so instead, have a book meme, swiped from leighdb.

The rules according to Leigh and adding back in the "whether you liked them or not" clause:

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Put an * next to those you've read partially.
3) Put those you really enjoyed in italics.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ.

Book Meme The Second

Believe it or not, I actually thought of doing this last night, before I read and swiped leighdb's posting of a book meme today. I thought of it after I'd already gone up for the night though, and figured this would be long and involved enough that I didn't wanna come down and get into it just then. My answering the subsequent meme may or may not have influenced what I'm putting here. *cough*

Anyhow, this is basically like the lyrics meme that has flown around a few times before, but in a book vein. What you do (or what *I* do, since I'm starting it, nyah) is take 15 books off your shelf (or more, or less, I originally thought of doing less myself but got started pulling some down and Could Not Stop!). Then open them up, and write down the very first three sentences in each. Then other people try to guess the book. As people guess them, I'll bold them and put the answer/guesser after the lines. Or maybe just the guesser to start with, to let other people "play along" more easily before they read the comments. Then in a few days (or whenever all of them are guessed), I'll repost the list, with the answers and those who got them right.

Some (maybe even most) of these are gonna be total gimmes for this crowd especially, due to either being well known for readers of the classics/voracious readers in general, or either being very... ah... genre-known. Or due to just the contents of the lines themselves. A couple will be slightly more obscure. Have at it!
