Writer's Block: Quantity vs. Quality

Would you rather have a small amount of something very good, or a large amount of something that's okay but not great?

My answer would have to be "it depends." In general, I'm for quality over quantity. But that can change - like if I'm absolutely *starving* and need/want/have to have food now nownow, I'd rather have a good quantity of something that's "okay," rather than a dainty little square-inch sized portion of even exquisite food.

And then on the other end of the spectrum there are the cases of things like video games, where I tend to drown in things that are quite good, because there are just too many really good or even great games out there, and I want them ALL grrrr! And only a fraction of the time do I end up actually playing a game to completion these days, even if it's one I enjoy immensely, because I just get distracted by another shiny. So I really should try to narrow down the focus on games even more, to the very very top of the heap... but I couldn't bear it! XD

(I'm glad auronsgirl does the interesting ones, because I'm too lazy to look them up otherwise. ;)

Yeah... when it comes to video games I'd rather have a small amount that's high quality, because there are so many other things out there I don't have time to try. It all depends what you have access to, but in this day and age we generally have access to a lot so there's not much value to filler (not just in games but in general).

I have that problem too! Too many games, not enough time!

I've lost track of how many games i'm theoretically in the middle of right now. Dragon Quest V, Kingdom Hearts, FF12, Flower, Pixel Junk Monsters, Everyday Shooter, Zelda Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime, many many more...

I actually went back and replayed and actually finished Twilight Princess at some point after I'd originally started it and trailed off. I was proud of myself!

And Kingdom Hearts is in another category for me: the category of games where I got right up *to* the end, but never technically finished because I had trouble with the final boss fight/final dungeon or something of the sort, and just never stuck with it enough to make it through to the end. (See also: Kingdom Hearts II, Saga Frontier II.... Um, I know there are more, but I just can't recall them off the top of my head. :/ )
