I guess I should post the follow-up...

I've seen this linked twice now, and was hoping for something more, but for now...

EA explains why the whole contest isn't quite what you think, and is All Right Then.

Blah. Even if all this IS true, they still presented their contest very very badly, are opening the doors for Really Stupid Shit at the con, and even as it stands isn't exactly wholesome, non-misogynist fun.

Then again, it is EA.

Hah, I actually was thinking of that comparison, that and wassisname.. writer of Cerebus... Dave Sim. Misogynous bastard.

Mostly I was thinking that it's easier to boycott products written/created by assholes/misogynists/racists when you don't actually like the product all that much. But now I'm in a quandry, because I've really been looking forward to possible Sims 3 expansion packs, but now I want even less to support EA as a company, you know?

I've long wished Maxis studios would separate from EA, somehow, someway. This makes me wish it even more. :(

"Commit acts of lust" is a cute way to say "take your picture with them"????

Really? REALLY? In what universe do they hold SDCC?

Bizarro world? I guess it'd fit...

But yeah. I'm glad they're at least trying to give an explanation, now if they'd just give one that actually, y'know, makes sense... or better yet, an actual apology?
