SQUEE!(nix)

I now have, via Amazon.com, both Star Ocean: The Last Hope for the 360 and the newest Rachel Morgan book. Both arrived on my doorstep today.

I is a very happy geek.

I'm also annoyed because paying attention to one will take my attention away from the other, damnit! But considering that one of the games in the Star Ocean series is my favorite video game, evah, it's going to mostly win out. I can read while I eat or something, since eating and juggling the massive 360 controller just doesn't work out very well. :p

Edit: Also, three discs' worth of 360 goodness to get through! Woot!

The game, since I don't know anything about Rachel Morgan. I've always been somewhat interested in Star Ocean, but not enough to actually play it. (I have 2, but it kinda got buried in the pile of other games that I've never managed to get through - I only played for about an hour total I think).

Awesome!

I've been waiting for Amazon to bring me Street Fighter 4, but I'm getting pretty annoyed because they haven't even shipped it yet. Meanwhile my friend who ordered the same day as I did got his copy today.

Star Ocean: The Second Story of course!

Oh, of course!

Wait, that means that I could actually play it, since they did a remake of it for the PSP. I'll have to keep my eyes open!

It's somewhere between a port and a remake, but yeah. I'd probably have to say I generally like the original better for the most part, but hey. Still totally awesome-pants.

I'm a couple of hours past the second boss, and am thoroughly enjoying it (though I *always* move suboptimally through JRPGs -- I bump my craft skills early and often because I enjoy that portion). Good graphics, pretty good VA (though Welch must die in a fucking fire, kthxbai), good story, good combat engine. I haven't found anything spectacular yet, nor anything that's a dealbreaker. I give it an 8/10 (9 if they had never dreamed up blindside, that's my least favorite portion of the game).

Yeah, just smashed the second boss myself, and I think I overlevelled a bit. ^^;; then again, I've been abusing the battle grid horribly, too.

Loving it so far. *knocks on wood*

I did the same on the 2nd boss, but the third boss was a LOT tougher (and I levelled up to around L30 for it). I've been ignoring the battle grid after the initial tutorial. Can you gain data on the monsters in there?

Hrm? What do you mean?

I was meaning the battle simulator -- I guess you meant the bonus grid?

Oh, heh, yeah, I was like "gain data in the battle grid, wha?"

I don't think you can gain data on the tutorial enemies, no. But hey, I could be wrong.

(Haven't really got any further yet, got distracted by Rachel Morgan last night, but back to it Real Soon Now...)
