Wow

Gorgeous inaugural speech. Just gorgeous. And we have now officially had a black President, before a female President even, which I would have figured would have come first. (Note I'm not complaining or anything, just a bit surprised.)

And nice choice of musicians, although it was a bit ironic that I found "Simple Gifts" to be a bit too... busy, really.

Could have done without the poet though. I mean, not any poet in general, but this particular reading did nothing for me. Well, it bored me and made me wince, but you know what I mean.

And as a non-solemn aside... when President Obama (man that feels good to type) was about to take his Oath, I swear it sounded like she was saying "the Presidential Oaf of Office" and I immediately thought "wow, what're they bringing Bush back for already?"

I liked the musical piece, by Williams' standards, it was less busy than a lot of his stuff. That said, I would pay a lot of money to see Yo-Yo Ma rock out with someone like Dragonforce. That guy is metal.

Agree on the poet. It was just kind of an eh. But that last Reverend's speech? I bet he was made of pure fire back in the day.

Oh man. That idea is so good it makes me want to dress in black and have angry sex with a piece of Ikea furniture.

Really? I figured it would happen in this order - the same as the granting of the right to vote.

Yeah, but while women may have been able to vote for less a time, we've been (in general, and In My Opinion, humble or not) treated as generally human for a longer time. Maybe not as full equals, but as Real People.

But what do I know, since I was obviously wrong?
