A.W.O.L...?

So... if I slip away again for the next, er, couple weeks or so, don't be alarmed. Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life just came out for the Gamecube. Mmmm.... gaming goodness *happy sigh* *bliss*

Yes, it's a bloody farming sim. You got a problem with it?

(Quick note for any possible other fans reading - thus far, I'd rate it above "Save the Homeland" and below "Back to Nature," but I've only been playing half a day. So we'll see how that holds up.)

Hrm.
Just when we get you back, you go and leave again.

I still need to try "Back to Nature" someday.

(grin) Hey, nothing wrong with a farming sim. Certainly no different than The Sims, and probably a good deal less disturbing.

See ya 'round! :-)

How does it compare to Friends Of Mineral Town, if you've played that one? I heard that FoMT is just like Back To Nature, which would be nice, as I never got to play that one.

Friends of Mineral Town is pretty much a typical port of Back to Nature for these days - by which I mean, it's the same game, with just a few added touches here and there when they brought it to the new system. So there was enough to pique my interest in replaying it when it was made into the "new game," but I still knew more or less just what to do because there wasn't enough changed to make it a different game.

So yeah, if you haven't played BtN yet, Friends of Mineral Town is more or less the same. With the glaring omission of a calendar with everyone's birthday/the various events included in the manual, which makes things a bit harder.

As to how it compares, So far I'd stick with the same analysis as before: better than Save the Homeland, but not quite as good as Back to Nature. But others are saying it's the best yet (over on GameFAQS, for what *that's* worth), so... well, there ya go. ^^

If I had a dollar for every person on GameFAQS who had the ability to like something without decalring it "BEST EVAR!!!111", well, I'd be pretty hungry. I do plan on getting both, but FoMT is more likely for the immediate future, and you are a big Harvest Moon fan, but you're also level-headed about it, so I figured your opinion would be the best.

Heheh...
Well, that's why I said for what it's worth, about the GameFAQS reference. But at any rate, the game's certainly addictive enough. The more I get into it, the more I'm finding. Of course this has been not quite two days' worth of play, so we'll see how it stands up in another few days. It's got some thumbs-up from me so far tho, albeit with the understanding that there are some points here and there that I'd *really* like to change. (Like only 3 girls that you can marry. *sigh* If I'm gonna be forced to woo/marry a girl, damnit, I want more choice!)
